Continuous Improvement Expert:
Talis Group’s client is a financially strong custom woodworking company with a clear mandate for growth and transformation. They are seeking a senior operations leader who wants to lead change and improvement. This position will have the opportunity to retool a substantial 70,000-square-foot plant, elevate a talented team, and help build the next generation of leadership as they double sales over the next five years. This is not a role for maintaining the status quo. It is a chance to redesign how the operation works and leave a lasting mark on both the systems and the people. M-F 1 shift.
Salary range: $120 - $140,000 + solid benefits package and bonus potential.
HIGHLIGHTED DUTIES:
- Drive Lean manufacturing initiatives, including 5S, Kaizen, value-stream mapping, standard work, and waste reduction.
- Optimize workflow, material flow, scheduling, and production processes across all shop operations.
- Monitor production metrics and drive measurable improvements in throughput, quality, efficiency, yield, and on-time delivery.
- Oversee production to ensure craftsmanship, specifications, and quality standards are consistently met.
- Identify and resolve bottlenecks, delays, and production issues.
- Maintain a safe, organized, 5S-compliant shop and ensure OSHA and equipment-safety requirements are followed.
- Coordinate with project management, purchasing, sales, finance, and installation teams to support company goals.
- Lead plant transformation efforts and foster a culture of accountability, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement.
- Explore the use of Artificial Intelligence to optimize manufacturing processes and workflow.
HIGHLIGHTED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated success leading process improvement or plant transformation initiatives.
- Proven supervisory experience with a strong track record in Lean/continuous improvement.
- Knowledge of woodworking processes, machinery, equipment, and shop operations, is preferred, but not required.
- Expertise in Lean tools, including Kaizen, 5S, value-stream mapping, root-cause analysis, and standard work.
- Ability to clearly communicate and lead team in a ‘change’ environment.
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Strong interest and curiosity in applying AI to manufacturing optimization.
