Join a Respected Defense Litigation Team

Talis Group’s company client is a well-established and highly respected defense litigation law firm is seeking a skilled, detail-oriented Paralegal to join its Medical Malpractice Defense practice group. This is an exciting opportunity for a litigation professional who enjoys working on complex cases, analyzing detailed medical records, and playing an integral role in helping attorneys prepare for every stage of litigation—from initial case intake through trial.

The ideal candidate will bring 2–5 years of civil litigation experience, with medical malpractice, healthcare, or insurance defense experience strongly preferred. We are looking for someone who is organized, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple cases, deadlines, and priorities in a fast-paced legal environment.

As a key member of the litigation team, you will work closely with attorneys, clients, medical professionals, and experts to keep cases moving efficiently and ensure every detail is handled with care. Responsibilities will include:
  • Assist attorneys with the preparation, filing, and service of legal documents, including answers, motions, pleadings, and discovery, in state and federal courts.
  • Manage case files from initial intake through trial, maintaining organized and comprehensive electronic and paper files.
  • Obtain, review, organize, and summarize medical records and billing documentation, identifying key facts and developing detailed medical chronologies and case timelines.
  • Draft discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, correspondence, and other litigation-related documents.
  • Coordinate with expert witnesses, including retention, scheduling, communication, and document delivery.
  • Maintain case calendars, monitor critical deadlines, and help ensure compliance with court rules and procedural requirements.
  • Conduct factual and legal research using Lexis, Westlaw, or comparable research platforms.
  • Support attorneys throughout trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, trial notebooks, witness materials, and other trial documents.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, healthcare providers, expert witnesses, co-counsel, court personnel, and other case-related contacts.
  • Anticipate attorney needs, stay ahead of deadlines, and contribute to the efficient and successful management of a busy litigation practice.

Highlighted Qualifications:
  • 2–5 years of paralegal experience, preferably in medical malpractice, civil litigation, or insurance defense.
  • Demonstrated ability to review, analyze, and interpret medical records and terminology.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple cases and competing deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and litigation support software such as CaseMap, Summation, or similar platforms.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with attorneys and other members of the litigation team.
  • A proactive, professional approach and the ability to remain organized and composed in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
