Talis Group’s company client, a growing & specialized national insurance organization, is seeking a Billing Specialist to support their Claims Department with legal billing, invoice review, and administrative coordination.

This role is ideal for candidates with experience billing for attorney or legal counsel time within a law firm, insurance defense, litigation, or professional services environment.  Candidates with legal secretary, litigation assistant, or insurance defense support, or legal billing backgrounds are highly encouraged to apply.

This is a unique & specialized area of insurance, & the company is open to training individuals who bring strong administrative or legal support experience & a solid understanding of legal or insurance billing processes.

This is a full-time, direct-hire position, offering excellent benefits including health, dental, vision, Simple IRA with employer match, paid time off, 10 paid holidays, tuition reimbursement, & an on-site gym.
Hours are Monday - Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm with hybrid schedule available (work from home 1-2 days a week).

The salary range is $45k-$55k (depending on experience).

Highlighted Duties:
  • Assist the Claims Manager with review and processing of law firm invoices, ensuring compliance with Litigation Billing Guidelines and adjusting billing entries as appropriate.
  • Prepare and maintain monthly claims management service billing for Accounting review and client payment processing.
  • Coordinate with underwriting and sales teams to support accurate claims evaluation and coverage review.
  • Assist with review and coordination of litigation counsel qualifications and approvals.
  • Maintain organized claim files and documentation, both electronically and in hard copy format.
  • Update claims documentation and provide ongoing administrative support to the Claims Manager.
  • Manage calendars, reminders, deadlines, and follow-up activities utilizing Microsoft Outlook.
  • Prepare reports for management review and carrier submission.
  • Provide professional and responsive customer service throughout the claims and billing process.
  • Support a fast-paced department requiring strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.

Highlighted Requirements:
  • High School Diploma/GED required; Associate or Bachelor degree preferred.
  • Prior experience as a Legal Secretary, Litigation Assistant, Administrative Assistant, or Paralegal within a law firm or legal environment strongly preferred.
  • Experience with client billing, legal billing, or professional services billing required.
  • Experience reviewing attorney invoices or billing for legal counsel time strongly preferred.
  • Insurance defense, litigation, or claims support experience highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of strong administrative support experience required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required.
  • Excellent written communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • Professional and courteous customer service demeanor.
  • Ability to adapt to evolving priorities and workload demands.
